III International Conference "Global Integration of
Graduate Programmes" has been held 3d - 8th October 2005 at the lake
Baikal.
At the beginning of this millennium, we face the
challenge of globalization in different spheres of our life, including
educational programmes that can be used throughout the world. Most
countries of European Union have now signed the Bologna Convention. And
several countries from Eastern Siberia and Asia joined them. At the
annual conference Global Integration of Graduate Programmes specialists
discuss problems connected with Bologna Process and share experience of
solving them.
A special theme this year is the Virtual University.
Issues of Internet- learning, e-learning, distance learning, lifelong
learning were presented by the participants.
Heads and managers of international and national
organizations, professors of Universities of United Kingdom, Germany,
Greece, Jordan, Italy, Lebanon, Ukraine and Russia came to Baikal to
participate in this conference.
Questions of unification of graduate programmes in
terms of Bologna Process were actively discussed on plenary sessions
chaired by General Secretary of of Magna Charta Observatory Professor A.
Barblan (Italy). Conference Chairman Professor A. Moscardini (United
kingdom) and Deputy Minister of Education and Science Professor M.F.
Stepko (Ukraine) deeply analyzed problems connected with adaptation of
existing national educational programs to international quality
standards.
Speeches of Professor G.S. Kurganskaya (Russia) and
Professor A. Marengo (Italy) initiated hot discussion concerning
problems of creation of Virtual University based on Internet
Technologies. Demonstration of new methods of education by the example
of systems of internet education of Russia (Hecadem), USA (WebTycho) and
Australia (WebCT) that followed afterwards created a theme for new
discussion.
During the conference work tripartite agreement
(Italy - Ukraine - Russia) about international collaboration was signed.
Thus, another step was done on the way to accomplishment of Bologna
Convention regulations.
